Pearl
Pearl
Honey-throated and soulful, and possessing a compelling growl full of grit and strut when she lets loose, Pearl Aday follows up her critically acclaimed 2010 debut with her new release “Heartbreak and Canyon Revelry,” ushering in a new dawn of California Country Rock.Joining forces with the venerable Jim Wilson, (longtime bassist for Daniel Lanois, Emmylou Harris and leader of Motor Sister and Mother Superior), Pearl once again proves how she is every inch a rock chanteuse who seamlessly moves from vulnerable to guttural in one measure. “Heartbreak and Canyon Revelry,” produced by Jay Ruston, is the natural evolution from 2010’s “Little Immaculate White Fox,” which was cited as not only “a noble debut” but tapped as leaving “a huge impact on the music scene” with “new female rock icon” Pearl likened to Ann Wilson, KT Tunstall and Shania Twain. The album takes its title from two central events in Pearl’s life: her move to Topanga Canyon with her husband Scott and the birth of their son, Revel Young, now 5 years old. Of this sophomore release, Pearl adds, “There’s something incredibly cathartic for me in this record. Writing and performing my music hasalways been my therapy, my safe place. In fact, I never sleep better than I do after a show, after I’ve been given the privilege of singing my guts out. I’ve come to realize that we are all in ‘this’ together –this world, this place in time – and if these songs give someone the feeling that they’re heard, understood, not alone, I’m elated."

Rock Academy
The Rock Academy’s showband is an advanced touring ensemble of young musicians between the ages of 12 and 18 who have been selected for their musical prowess, showmanship, love of performing, and ability to share the stage with professional musicians as they tour the world.
Recent and current participants of showband have played alongside such musical luminaries as Jon Anderson (Yes), Scott Ian (Anthrax), John Sebastian (The Lovin’ Spoonful), Donald Fagan (Steely Dan), and Fred Armisen (SNL, Portlandia). Festivals and events that have featured showband include a headline slot at the 2017 international Frank Zappa Festival, Zappanale, in Bad Doberan, Germany, where the kids played to nearly 10,000 diehard Zappa fans. This headline appearance was a direct result of the previous year’s performance at Zappanale, where showband was deemed a crowd favorite and quickly asked to play again, this time in a prime headline spot on Friday evening at the 3-day festival. Additionally, showband has made multiple appearances at Mountain Jam Festival, performing with acts including Sister Sparrow, Con Brio and other guest stars.
Rock Academy can play diverse sets of classic rock covers, or concentrate on a single artist or genre. Rock Academy can tailor a specific show for an event or just show up and rock the house, playing to any audience. A sample reel of performances can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/253307513
Looking ahead to summer 2018, Rock Academy showband is currentlybooking U.S. gigs nationwide. Please be in touch for more information about this outrageously dynamic group of musicians who guarantee great times for all.
